A Milwaukee man was arrested for attempting to sexually assault a 15-year-old girl child after investigators caught him in a sting operation.
Matteo Garcia, 31, was arrested for 2nd degree sexual assault of a child, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and attempted child enticement at 4 p.m. Monday.
According to a press release by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, Garcia thought he was meeting a 15-year-old girl for sex, but had really been chatting with an undercover investigator who was posing as the girl. As the relationship between the two progressed, Garcia talked about taking the girl’s virginity and buying her Plan B birth control.
Garcia intended to meet the girl, but he was taken into custody. Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant and found child pornography on his cell phone and at his home.
During an interview, Garcia told investigators he had “always been attracted to minors” and admitted to having child pornography.
“Our elite ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) Detectives were able to halt what could have been a heinous crime against a young child, stop a parent’s worst nightmare from becoming reality, and get the lowest of low criminals behind bars and off our streets,” said Racine County Sheriff Chistopher Schmaling.
This incident is still under investigation by the Racine County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Bureau.
Garcia is being held at the Racine County Jail awaiting official charges by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office on $150,000 bail.
