A 30-year-old Racine man was charged Friday with a felony after he sent sexual text messages to a 12-year-old boy.

Richard Brazeau was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with a felony count of exposing a child to harmful material.

According to the criminal complaint, an officer with the Racine Police Department took a report of a 12-year-old boy receiving inappropriate messages from Brazeau. Brazeau sent sexually suggestive messages along with inappropriate photos.

If convicted of the charge, he faces up to three years six months in prison and/or fines up to $10,000.

The boy told Brazeau that he was 12-years-old. Brazeau then told the boy he would “be learning about it soon anyway” and that he was in the same grade the boy was when he learned about sex ed. When police interviewed Brazeau, he admitted to sending the message.
