The owners of The Red Bell store in West Racine are retiring and closing their doors sometime in March.

The Journal Times is reporting that owners David and Linda Rosenthal are holding a retirement sale that is also probably a total clearance sale unless someone comes forward to buy the store, 3201 Washington Avenue.

The Red Bell has been in business for almost 40 years – the Rosenthals bought the store in 1990 from founder Mary Bullette – providing educational games, toys and books to educators throughout the area, the story continues.

In addition to the Racine store, the couple also operated a Red Bell in Kohler from 2001-2004 and one on the south side of Kenosha.

Linda told the newspaper that retiring is both happy and sad.

“We really bonded with a lot of our customers, and we’ll be sad to not be able to service them,” she is quoted as saying.
