… we have a small favor to ask. Thousands of people have placed their trust in the Racine County Eye’s high-impact journalism because we focus on solutions-based journalism.

With no shareholders or billionaire owners, we can provide trustworthy journalism that focuses on helping readers.

Unlike many others, Racine County Eye’s journalism is available for everyone to read, regardless of what they can afford to pay. We do this because we believe in information equality. Greater numbers of people can keep track of events, understand their impact on people and communities, and become inspired to take meaningful action.

If there were ever a time to join us, it is now. Every contribution, however big or small, powers our journalism and sustains our future. Support the Racine County Eye from as little as $5 – it only takes a minute. Thank you.

Your contribution is appreciated.

We are a mere 39 days away from the April general election, and we know readers have questions for the candidates running for office in their respective municipalities.

The Racine Taxpayers Association and Racine County Eye are sponsoring a series of forums in the City of Racine and the Village of Mount Pleasant so residents can hear from Mayor John Dickert, Melvin Hargrove, Mark Gleason, Jerry Garski, Monte Osterman, Steve Smetana, respectively.

Two questions each will come from the RTA and RCE for the candidates at the events, but the majority of the questions will come from residents, and the candidates will have equal time to answer. Instead of a debate that features answers and rebuttals, these forums will be more like extended Q&A sessions.

Sam Wahlen, president of the RTA, will moderate the forums, and Heather Asiyanbi from RCE will keep the time.

Mount Pleasant Village President:

7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 19 at Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive.

Candidates: Mark Gleason (i) and Jerry Garski

Racine Mayor:

7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 26 in the Great Lakes Room at Gateway Technical College, 1001 Main Street.

Candidates: John Dickert (i); Melvin Hargrove
