Salmon-A-Rama

Salmon-A-Rama is moving, but not out of Racine.

Instead, the annual fishing competition and tradition will call a parking lot at the Reefpoint Marina home for a trial run, according to a story in The Journal Times.

There had been some discussion around Salmon-A-Rama moving out of Racine because, event co-Chair Tom Pietila told the newspaper, the city wanted to charge the tournament rent to use their usual spot in the pavilion the organization helped build.

So, when the county offered a rent-free space in the lot just east of Reefpoint Brew House, Salmon-A-Rama officials jumped at the opportunity.

There will be 75 slips for anglers to use, and a free trolley sponsored by Porcaro Ford will transport participants down to the marina, the story reads.

Salmon-A-Rama 2014 runs from July 12-20.
