Racine Unified families who want to send their student(s) to a magnet or charter school within the district or a school other than their neighborhood school can begin applying Dec. 1 for seats at those schools.
This is the first year the application process will take place online as well as at the district’s administration building, the RUSD website instructions read.
Families will be required to sign in to the Parent Portal and use their Infinite Campus access code (GUID) to fill out the application. For any family who doesn’t have their GUID, they can get it by visiting their students’ school.
Applications will be accepted from 7:30 a.m. Dec. 1 through 4:30 p.m. Jan. 15 for openings at magnet, charter and preference schools.
Magnet and charter schools are:
- Jefferson Lighthouse, Bull Fine Arts and Red Apple Elementary Magnet Schools
- REAL Charter School (grades 6-12)
- Walden III (grades 6-12)
A preference school is any school outside a student’s home boundary.
The Racine Unified administration/welcome center is located at 3109 Mt. Pleasant Street.
