An Illinois man is facing criminal charges after he arranged Thursday to have sex with a nine-year-old girl.

David Baker, 31, is facing numerous charges by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office, which have not been issued.

Following an undercover investigation by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department, investigators say Baker came to Racine County to “exchange child pornography and engage in sexual activity” with the girl, according to a press release by the Racine County Sheriff’s Department.

After Baker met with undercover officers, they took him into custody. He is being held at the Racine County Jail.

“Although these types of investigations are lengthy and resource intensive, they are some of the most important cases related to the safety of our communities and our children.” Racine County Sheriff Chris Schmaling. “It is ensuring the safety of our children that strengthens the resolve and commitment of this office in the continued pursuit of these types of offenders”.

The investigation is ongoing.

A preliminary hearing has not been set yet.
