Investigators with the Racine Police Department are investigating a homicide involving a 28-year-old man that happened early Friday morning.

The man was found lying on the ground unresponsive at 2 a.m. in the 1800 block of Roosevelt Avenue from an apparent gunshot wound. Law enforcement and rescue personnel from the Racine Fire Department tried to revive the man, but he was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing. The department is not releasing any other information. Any witnesses, or citizens with information, are urged to call the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at (262) 635-7756.
