Put on your Halloween costume and start running! The 6th Annual Real Racine Skeleton Skamper 5k Run/Walk is Saturday, Oct. 24 at the Mount Pleasant Civic Campus, 8811 Campus Drive.

Skeleton Skamper is the only race of its kind in Southeastern Wisconsin. Get your group together, find your most outlandish costumes and have fun on a new, timed 5k course through the Village of Mount Pleasant.

The 5k run/walk starts at 8:30 a.m. All registered participants (by Oct. 19) are guaranteed a long-sleeved, commemorative t-shirt and a goody bag. Awards will be presented to the top three male and female finishers in 13 age/ability categories.

The registration fee is $20 until Oct. 1; $25 from Oct. 1 through Oct. 24.

The free Kids Trick-or-Treat Walk starts at 9:45 a.m. Kids are invited to fill their treat bags at goodie stops along the quarter-mile walk. Strollers and wagons are welcome.

Everyone is welcome to a post-race festival with a DJ, pumpkin decorating, kids’ carnival games, face painting and other Halloween fun. Be sure to enter the costume contest to win more than $450 in cash and prizes.

Skeleton Skamper benefits Real Racine, the county’s destination marketing organization whose mission is to promote tourism and travel in Racine County and create events to unify the community.
