Caledonia residents David and Cherie Bangust plan to open up the Soup Shanty, a soup and sandwich restaurant at 6022 Douglas Ave., sometime in early May. The interior has been completely overhauled to include a kitchen and dining area. David said the business needs to have some final inspections done, but they hope to be open for business before Mother’s Day. In addition to soups, salads, and sandwiches, the business plans to offer bakery items. Cherie has been in the restaurant business her whole life as some of her family members have owned supper clubs in northern Wisconsin.
