The St. Patrick’s Day events in Downtown Racine will kick off with a St. Pat’s Day 5K/2K.08K race. 5Kevents.org will be hosting this event in conjunction with Little Port Brewing Company and the Downtown Racine Corporation. So grab your green attire, running shoes, and make sure you have a beer in hand.
Which Race is For Me?
There are two options from which racers can choose: The St. Pat’s Day 5K or the 2K, which has been cleverly dubbed the “.08K” after the legal blood-alcohol concentration in Wisconsin and runs the entire parade route. The cost to participate ranges between $20 and $27.50 depending on race selection. People can also choose to participate as remote runners for a $35 fee. (Swag has its price!) Discounts are also offered; detailed information is available on the registration site.
The event will take place at 11:45 a.m. on March 19 before the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Participants must register for the event in order to participate in the fun. All participants will receive a custom finishers medal. The top three individuals from each group will be recognized. Groups consist of both male and female “9 and under,” then one group for each 5-year increment thereafter.
Register for the St. Pat’s Day 5K or .08K
Registration can be completed on the day of the event at Little Port Brewing Company. Same-day registration starts at 10:30 a.m. and includes picking up their swag gear and Irish cape. Registration and packet pick-up is also available prior to race day. You can register by clicking the button below and then pick up your packet information on Friday, March 18 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the 5Kevents.org Event Resource Center located at 215 6th St. The same giveaways and freebies are offered to 5K racers and 0.8K racers.
After registration, it’s time to race. The hosting organization utilizes a shoe tag system in order to track race times. Race participants must wear their shoe tags and race bibs in order to be timed. If you fail to wear them or wear them improperly, you will be disqualified and asked to leave the course. This is due to insurance purposes. Learn how to properly wear your equipment by visiting the race website.
You’ll either run the parade route or make the trip a little longer throughout Downtown Racine. Those who choose to participate in the St. Pat’s Day 5K event will receive a chip that attaches to your shoe, which times the runner. If you happen to be the top overall male or female in the 5K, you will be escorted down the parade route in a convertible.
However, if a 5K is too much for you, you can run or walk the .08K. It is not a timed race; no pressure, just all of the St. Paddy’s fun.
After Party Fun
Once you are finished racing, return to the brewery and get ready for more shenanigans. After your race, you’ll be able to pick up your free commemorative glass of beer. All participants will additionally receive BOGO at Pepi’s, Ivanhoe, Main Hub, Carriage House Liquors, and The Brickhouse.
Once you are finished running, sit back and relax. Enjoy the 2022 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Need details about that event? Check out Racine County Eye’s latest post by visiting our website.
View results from the St. Pat’s race live on www.5Kevents.org by clicking on the race results tab. Racers should keep in mind that this is a chip start, meaning a person’s finishing order via gun start will not be the same as the chip start. The race clock at the event will represent the official race start time but not the individual racers’ actual finish times.
If your final time, gender, bib# or other data is incorrect in the final results, please notify the race director using the online correction form. 5kevents.org asks that runners do not interrupt the timing crew during the event.
