A Waterford woman was charged by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office with theft for stealing more than $40,000 from a general contractor she worked for.

Jessica L. Ray, 38, stole the money from her employer between 2015 and 2017, according to a criminal complaint by the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.

Ray was hired as a part-time employee and was putting down more hours of work than she actually performed. She didn’t tell police why her records had been inconsistent with the hours she actually worked.

She worked in payroll and ultimately was compensated during the past two years as though she was working 40 hours a week plus overtime.

A preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m. July 19 in front of Racine County Felony Judge Mark Nielsen.
