SCAN Mission: Teaching kids what abuse is, what to do if it happens, and how to get help- one classroom at a time.

SCAN Vision: Creating a world where all children grow up in safe environments free from abuse

The Stop Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) program provides child abuse awareness lessons to students in southeastern Wisconsin. We currently provide lessons to preschoolers, kindergarteners, 2nd, 4th and 6th-grade students in Racine and Kenosha County’s schools. During the 2018-2019 school year, SCAN taught lessons to 12,750 youth. Students are taught to recognize abusive situations, to disclose abuse should it occur, and identify sources of support. Above all, we want children to understand that abuse is never the fault of the child.

The community can support SCAN’s efforts by inviting SCAN to present to groups and organizations about our services, attending SCAN awareness events, serving on planning committees for fundraisers, or, of course, donating money to fund program lessons.
