Sturtevant residents will most likely see their sewer rates go up this fall, the first increase in two years.
Trustees last week talked about the need to raise rates in answer to increases in both Racine and Mount Pleasant and are expected to approve the new rates during their July 19 board meeting.
Residential property owners will get a $5 increase per quarter or $20 per year, and commercial property owners will see a $10 per quarter increase, or $40 per year.
The last time sewer rates went up was in 2014, and trustees last year contemplated changing the way the village bills for sewer services, but estimates proved too costly.
Village board meetings are at 6 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of the month at Village Hall, 2801 89th Street. Call (262) 886-7200.
