Mount Pleasant Police CarMount Pleasant Police are searching for a suspect in an attempted carjacking that happened early Thursday morning at Speedway, 6209 Washington Ave.

A man called the police at 3:27 a.m. after a man with a pistol approached him outside the gas station as he was putting groceries into his car. The suspect told the man he would shoot him and demanded that he get into the car with him and drive. The man refused and the suspect fled the area on foot traveling south through a nearby yard.

The suspect is described as a younger black male, about five-foot 10-inches tall and had a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. Mount Pleasant Police used a K9 dog to search for the suspect, but he was not found.

No one was injured, but law enforcement officials are looking for information.
