Welcome to Easter weekend in Racine County. We hope you’ll get out for some local art, live music and Easter egg hunting. Real Racine has lots of great suggestions.
Downtown for art. The year’s first DRAW (Downtown Racine Art Walk) is 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday at more than 20 Downtown Racine galleries, studios and shops. You’ll see artists at work and art displays throughout the Downtown area. Be sure to catch the amazing acoustic guitarist Mike Fenner from New Zealand at Northern Lights Gallery, 423 Main St. You’ll also have an opportunity to meet Kristen Bartel, the Racine Art Museum (RAM) Fellowship Recipient, and get free admission to RAM, 441 Main St., after 3 p.m. For more on DRAW, visit www.racinedowntown.com
For the kids. Gather the little ones for a day of fun at the Racine Zoo’s Egg-Stravaganza this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 2131 N. Main St. The kids will enjoy finding the six cluck-cluck doors to collect eggs, playing themed games and making crafts. It’s all included in regular zoo admission of $4 for adults, $3.50 for seniors (ages 62 and older) and $3 for children (ages 15 and younger). Photos with the Easter Bunny will be available at an extra charge. Visit www.racinezoo.org
Swinging jazz night. Jean’s Jazz Series wraps up its season at 7 p.m. Saturday with an evening with Chicago’s Rhythm Rockets. This band presents jazz and classic rhythm-and-blues arrangements from the 1940s through the ’60s. The Rockets are guaranteed to fill the house with sound on the Racine Theatre Guild stage, 2519 Northwestern Ave. A limited number of tickets are available at $18 for adults, $16 for seniors and $5 for students. Visit www.racinetheatre.org or call 262-633-4218.
See the bunny. You have just a couple more opportunities for the Big Bunny Celebration at Apple Holler Farm, 5006 S. Sylvania Ave., Yorkville. This family event, including a puppet show, apple orchard tour, pony rides, Easter Egg hunt and treats, is at 10 and 11:15 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $10 per person. Reservations are a must at www.appleholler.com
Don’t miss the PEEPS. The first — and only — international art exhibition made from PEEPS marshmallow candies can be seen through Sunday, April 23 at the Racine Art Museum (RAM), 441 Main St. This year’s 136 entries are absolutely amazing! Be sure to vote for the PEEPle’s Choice Award. RAM is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Closed Easter Sunday. See a preview at www.ramart.org
