The summer heat yielded to slightly cooler temperatures Friday. The children on Monument Square cling to their bubble loaded pistols to get in a few more minutes of laughter before school starts in a few days. People tap their toes and dance to Music on the Monument from the Twang Dragons on Friday afternoon. Racine firefighters stand in the street holding boots. The people driving through the intersection at Sixth and Main streets toss money into the boots for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This is how we celebrate the last few days of summer on Main Street.

In addition to our education features, we’ll be kicking off a series of stories highlighting how parents, students, and educators are adapting to the impact of COVID-19 on education.
