RACINE, WI – March 2019 – Racine Rotary Clubs have had a long and proud tradition of hosting “Post Prom” since 1953. On Saturday, May 18th, 2019, The Racine Founders Rotary Club will be proud to once again host Post Prom at Racine’s Festival Hall and Paul P. Harris Rotary Park. This event is truly a Racine treasure that has grown to include nine area High Schools and over 1300 participants. The theme for this year’s Post Prom is “Captured by a Dream.” Adding to the roster, Racine Founders Rotary Club is honored to coordinate, staff, facilitate and run the “A Night to Remember” which will occur the day after Post Prom on Sunday, May 19, 2019. While this event has occurred for several years, 2019 will mark the first year the Rotary Club is organizing the event. We will absolutely still rely on the community to come together and volunteer their time and talents. This event cannot run without those dedicated individuals who have helped in years past!
“A Night to Remember Prom” provides individuals between ages 15-30 with special needs with celebrity-style treatment with no cost to the participants. It is an important and popular event that makes a positive impact on all who attend. Rotary is proud to continue this tradition in Racine. Regarding the change, event co-chair Sara Luther says, “The ‘A Night to Remember’ Prom is an amazing offering for the Racine community. Rotary is a service organization – so this fits our mission and frankly, the individuals who serve as Rotarians have a special place in their hearts for this community gem. Kelli Stein and I, along with the entire Rotarian family, agree it will be an absolute honor for Founders Rotary to continue this wonderful offering.”
Rotary Post Prom was established by the Rotary Clubs of Racine to provide a safe and fun environment for area graduating seniors following their respective school proms. Since its inception, it has become a community-wide celebration for graduating seniors and is the ultimate culmination of their high school careers. This event provides a safe, wholesome, and memorable evening for graduates from all area high schools and has received national recognition in recent years. Hosting the Rotary Post Prom is just one of the ways Rotary has strived to put “Service Above Self,” and has been serving the Racine community for over 100 years. The club’s mission is to provide service to local and international communities with a focus on youth while promoting integrity and generosity through fun and active fellowship of community leaders.
