Girls who want the thrills and frills of their dream prom night but may not be able to afford the required finery can find what they need at the annual Belle of the Ball. Most Racine-area residents understand the milestone that is prom and the after-prom party at Festival Hall, but not everyone has the means to put together the perfect look. Belle of the Ball is a yearly event that grants prom wishes to girls who can’t afford it. Not only are there dresses in every style, color, and size, there are also shoes, jewelry, garters, handbags, hosiery, and dressy shawls and wraps. All of the items offered at Belle of the Ball have been donated. This year, Tina’s Dress Boutique, 505 6th Street, will host the event. Exact dates haven’t been scheduled yet, but according to Tina’s post on RelyLocal’s Facebook page, girls can expect to go shopping in early March. Girls who are interested in participating in Belle of the Ball can fill out the application by clicking here.

In addition to our education features, we’ll be kicking off a series of stories highlighting how parents, students, and educators are adapting to the impact of COVID-19 on education.
