Mount Pleasant police say two women are facing prison time after they stole over $1,000 in baby formula from area grocery stores.

Shaunee Felton, 35, and Desiree Brown, 21, both of Racine, will have their initial appearance Nov. 11 Racine County Circuit Court to each face two counts of felony retail theft and one misdemeanor charge of retail theft. Felton also faces a second charge of misdemeanor retail theft. If convicted, Felton faces 8-1/2 years in prison and/or up to $40,000 in fines. Brown faces 7 years, nine months in prison and/or up to $30,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaints against them, Felton and Brown were seen on store surveillance at Pick ‘n Save, 2820 S. Green Bay Road, on three different dates stealing various quantities of baby formula:

  • August 26 – $531.72
  • August 29 – $113.94
  • August 30 – $569.70

Police say Felton was also seen at the Burlington Walmart taking $412.30 worth of baby formula.

Both women were assigned $500 signature bonds Wednesday and will next be in court Nov. 11 for their initial appearances. Their court dates were postponed to give them time to obtain legal counsel.
