Mount Pleasant police say the man seriously injured in a drunk driving accident earlier this week has died.

MPPD Sgt. Jason Vaccaro said in a press release Friday that the man’s name is not being released until authorities can be sure his family is notified.

The man was taken by Flight for Life Monday night after the driver of the Ford truck in which he was a passenger turned left in front of a Dodge truck at the intersection of 90th Street and Washington Avenue. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence causing great bodily harm, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for failing to yield while performing a left turn.

The driver of the Dodge suffered minor injuries.
