Journalism. We believe it should help you live a better life.
That’s why we spend a lot less time on publishing mug shots and a lot more time helping you understand the employment market, figure out how to spend more time with friends and family with our events calendar, and what you can do to help businesses that have opened up. Make no mistake…we aren’t shy. We tackle the big stuff, like COVID and issues around race.
And if you believe in the value of journalism — that it should help, not exploit — please consider becoming a paid member of the Racine County Eye today. We can’t do this work without you.
Nonprofit Mission and Vision Statements
Our mission is to serve underprivileged women and their children. Our vision is dedicated to serving, supporting, empowering, and equipping disadvantaged women and their families so they can live from a place of victory in every aspect of their lives. We accomplish this through our inspirational publication, interactive writing workshops, self-sufficiency programs, community outreach events, and free public awareness activities.
Please provide a paragraph or so about what your organization does in the community. Include any recent achievements, projects, and goals.
We serve underprivileged women and their children in the Racine and Kenosha County communities. We have developed community collaborations with the YWCA, community unity, RES Care, and the Workforce Development Center. Over the years we have served families from North Chicago to Milwaukee with Chicken Soup for the Soul food, clothing banks, referral services, financial literacy programs, and health resources. Through our Vision for Victory program, clients are often referred to us by Res Care Workforce Services. This is in addition to our own outreach efforts. A Victorious Women volunteer follows up on all referrals, schedules appointments, initiates the intake process, and assesses services needed. We create financial stability strategies designed to help our clients with continued individual growth and family bonding through interactive literacy, financial services, self-care, job readiness, and healthy relationship workshops and group discussions that take place in weekly 90-minute sessions for five weeks, accommodating up to 30 participants. We also offer scholarships for women to use towards their college education or childcare expenses.
To date, our Vision for Victory program has impacted the lives of 428 women and children. Strengthening women with the ability to make meaningful contributions to society not only strengthens their families but their communities as well. In addition, the possibility of self-fulfillment inspires them to shape their lives with confidence and resolve so that they can serve as a role model for the next generation!
