The original Knapp Elementary School is coming down to make way for additional green space for the students who will start the upcoming school year in the new Knapp Community School.

Funding for the new school comes from the $128 million referendum voters approved in November 2014. Repairs, renovations and updates to the original Knapp were considered more costly than constructing a new building.

Knapp families past and present gathered at the original school earlier this year for a final farewell that includes photos, memories, laughter and some tears.
