Journalism. We believe it should help you live a better life.
That’s why we spend a lot less time on publishing mug shots and a lot more time helping you understand the employment market, figure out how to spend more time with friends and family with our events calendar, and what you can do to help businesses that have opened up. Make no mistake…we aren’t shy. We tackle the big stuff, like COVID and issues around race.
And if you believe in the value of journalism — that it should help, not exploit — please consider becoming a paid member of the Racine County Eye today. We can’t do this work without you.
Racine, WI: In unanimous votes, the Visioning a Greater Racine (VGR) Board of Directors accepted the nominations of two passionate community advocates to fill executive leadership positions on the board. Mario Martinez has been named as President-elect and Jomarie Coloriano will fill the vacant Secretary seat. Martinez is a Racine native, President and CEO of the Marz Group, City of Racine Planning commissioner, and Chairman and Founder of Amigos de Cesar Chavez Community Center. His term will begin on January 1, 2020. Current President and
VGR founder, Tom Buhler, will remain on the board, completing his tenure December 31, 2020.
Martinez’s passionate leadership and strong business background support the momentum, programing, and excitement brought forward by VGR’s hundreds of volunteers working on W.A.V.E. (Working, Action, Vision, Engagement) Teams.
“I am humbled and truly honored to help lead the charge for an organization that in my opinion has set the mark for reinforcing the true meaning of community engagement, inclusion and empowerment,’Martinez said. “My hopes are that we continue on this mission to create a positive force for social development for all our communities here in the great city of Racine.”
