Mount Pleasant Village Administrator Kurt Wahlen is most likely going to be out of job Monday after the board meets in closed session to discuss a separation agreement for him.
An agenda for the meeting posted to the village’s website Thursday lists the primary item under discussion as, “to discuss a separation agreement with the Village Administrator.”
Wahlen’s contract was up May 13, and trustees on the Personnel Committee as well as the whole board claimed last month to have received clarification about the terms of Wahlen’s contract, but didn’t take any action.
When he was reached by a Journal Times reporter about the special meeting, Wahlen said he expected Monday to be his last day.
“Elections have consequences,” he is quoted as saying. “That’s what I’m facing here.”
Village President Jerry Garski would only say he wishes Wahlen well.
“There are no hard feelings here,” he said. “I wish him nothing but the best.”
The special board meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. at Village Hall, 8811 Campus Drive. Call (262) 664-7800.
