Mount Pleasant police has a new K9 duo, and they’re expected on patrol soon. Officer Eric Giese was chosen as the department’s new K9 officer earlier this year to replace Officer Dale Swart and Bones because Bones is retiring this year after almost nine years of service. Giese and Ares – a two-year-old Belgian Malinois – met and trained together for a few weeks this spring and will be on patrol soon.
