Potential Powerball winnings this weekend could near $1 billion – yes, billion … with a “b” – and Racine area residents have been flooding area stores to purchase tickets to try and grab their piece of this very large pie. After two $1 million tickets were sold at the Durand Avenue Mart at the corner of Durand and Lathrop Avenues, neighbors from near and far have been lining up to try and soak up any luck that may be hanging around the store, a story in The Journal Times reads. “It’s filling up our store,” store co-owner Diane Peterson told the newspaper. “Everybody’s trying to become a winner.” She expects sales to remain high and most likely increase right up until the last possible minute Saturday. “Saturday will be crazy all day,” Peterson is quoted as saying.
