Officials with the Racine County Sheriff’s Department are searching for a 36-year-old woman who escaped from the Ellsworth Correctional Facility, 21425 Spring St., at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Christine Abel, who lived in Green Bay prior to being incarcerated, “turned up missing during a head count,” according to a press release by the sheriff’s department.
Abel was serving a three-year sentence for burglary from a case in 2015. She initially was on probation in that case, but that got revoked in December 2017 after she was found guilting on an obstruction charge, according to court records.
She is also suspected of breaking and entering a home at 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 2100 block of Church Road. She allegedly then took a 2007 black GM Sierra pickup truck. It has a license plate of MC1698. The truck has mud terrain tires, a spray on bed liner, a small lift/leveling kit and gooseneck hitch in the truck bed.
But it wasn’t until an hour later that the Racine County Sheriff’s Office learned that Abel was missing.
“During the initial investigation, it was determined that the missing inmate was involved in the burglary and theft of pickup truck,” the press release reads.
Abel is described as 5-foot tall, and 110 lbs. She has brown hair with blue eyes. If anyone observes the escapee or truck call 911. Do not attempt to make contact.
