Two people were injured, but not hospitalized for injuries following a two-car crash that happened Thursday night on Highway 11 and Oakes Road.

A woman, who was operating a Mitsubishi Gallant, is facing a possible drunk driving charge. Because she had her two children in the car at the time of the crash, an enhancer is being added to the charge, according to a press release by the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

According to investigators, the woman driving the Mitsubishi failed to yield the right of way when she made a left turn from Durand Avenue onto Oaks Road. She crashed her car into a silver Volkswagen Passat, which was being driven by another woman. After striking the Volkswagen, the woman driving the Mitsubishi crashed into a traffic signal pole.

Mount Pleasant Police shut down traffic coming into the area during the investigation

No one was taken to the emergency room for injuries. But the woman driving the Mitsubishi was taken to Ascension – All Saints for a blood draw to determine her blood-alcohol level. The charges are pending results of the blood draw.
