A Caledonia woman surreptitiously recorded her adult son threatening to shoot her, and turned the recordings over to police when they came to arrest him.
Douglas R. Karasch, 63, is charged with disorderly conduct-domestic abuse, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer for the May 16 incident.
His mother, who is 80 years old, called police to their home in the 9900 block of 7 Mile Road. When officers arrived, she said her son was inside drinking. He told police that his mother “nags” him about everything, but that there had been no physical violence and it was safe for them to stay together.
The woman told officers that her son had threatened to get a gun and shoot her. She then turned over to officers audio recordings she made that included him insulting her, making fun of her, threatening to get a gun and shot her, and asking her not to call police.
He is due to make his initial appearance next month.
