An outbuilding at Regency Mall will soon be going back to the dogs when The Woof doggy day care opens later this month.
Owner Kevin Harvey lives in Florida and has a house in Mount Pleasant. He told The Journal Times that he started a doggy day care/boarding business on National Dog Day 2015 after he sold his local contracting business.
Plans for the former tire store and Central Bark Doggy Day Care include an initial investment of $50,000 in renovations like a new floor, kennels and fencing for an expanded outdoor play area. An additional $30,000 to $40,000 in costs will include new outdoor turf in the play area, the story continues.
“I like them to be really active,” he is quoted as saying about having dogs at his facility.
Harvey also invited neighbors to stop by and take a look at his progress.
The Woof is expected to employ eight workers – including two full-time co-managers – and could grow its workforce to 16.
Costs will range from $25 per visit to $19 per visit when a package of play dates is purchased. Overnight boarding will be $40 per dog or $69 for two.
The Woof will be open seven days a week.
