Between March 13 and March 17, 58 properties totally $11.5 million changed hands, according to the Racine County property transfer list.

Here are the property transfer highlights:

  • Bray Center, 924 Center St., was sold to the YMCA of Racine for $55,400. Once an independent community center, the Bray Center shut its doors in the fall after it lost staff and funding. Jameel Ghuari, former executive director of the Bray Center Inc. Ahmad K.Qawi, chief operating officer at the Racine Family YMCA, told Racine County Eye that this marks the first program where the YMCA has the opportunity to bring a program into a neighborhood as opposed to the neighborhood coming to the YMCA.
  • Hunt’s Contracting Company, which was owned by Nelsen Associates LLC, at 1535 Layard Avenue was sold to 1535 Layard Avenue LLC for $355,000.
  • A commercial property on six acres of land located at 3012-3014 S. Sylvania Avenue was sold to Robert Gleason, of Mount Pleasant, for $1.05 million.
  • Nelson Electric Supply Co., sold its Racine Distribution Center at 821 South Airline Road, to Daruma Wisconsin for $1.5 million.
