Obituary for Goran Djuric

October 3, 1967 — June 2, 2024

Goran Djuric, affectionately known as Gogi by his loved ones, lived his life with happiness, kindness and love. He left this world suddenly on June 2, 2024, in Tucson, Ariz. The world has lost a great man. The angels have gained a great soul.

Goran was born to Marko and Milica Djuric on Oct. 3, 1967, in Plavno, Yugoslavia. He graduated from UW-Parkside with a bachelor’s degree in physics. One of his last positions was Director of IT at Gallagher, while he also owned his own company GOGI Software Solutions. Intelligent and creative, Goran’s favorite position was his last, an Instructor for CalTech (California Institute of Technology) training others in IT.

In 1998, Goran met and married his soulmate, Nina Djuric (Visekruna). They were married in Beograd, Serbia, and moved to Kenosha briefly, and then moved to Tucson, Ariz., where Goran made it known that there was no place in the United States better than Tucson.

The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Goran. A talented guitar player, Goran loved playing his electric and acoustic guitars. He loved globe trekking with his wife and a favorite destination was Mexico. Always an entrepreneurial spirit, he had planned to open an IT business in Serbia. He loved a quiet evening with his wife whom he loved beyond measure.

His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. Goran is survived by his parents, Marko and Milica; wife, Nina; sister, Snjezana (Dragan); nephew, Luka; niece, Lara; mother-in-law, Danica; father-in-law, Momcilo (deceased); sister-in-law, Sandra (Milan); nephew, Stefan; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, both in the United States and Serbia.

To say he was loved and adored is an understatement and no words can express the family’s loss. Angels took Goran too soon, but he went peacefully.

Services

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on June 12 at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery, 32377 N Route 21, Libertyville, Ill., with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Sava’s Cemetery. There will be a luncheon following the burial at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 6108 Braun Road, in Mount Pleasant.

Goran Djuric will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his family, friends and colleagues.

Laku noc Bibi!
