He was a graduate of Belvidere High School “Class of 1963.” Gary was employed as a Designer and Product Engineer at Twin Disc, retiring in 2008 after 42 years of service.

He found enjoyment in camping, boating and spending time with his friends and family in Florida, Illinois and Wisconsin. He was an endless giver and helper — to friends, to family and to anyone whom he saw needed help. He worked very hard during his career and enjoyed this accomplishment by taking advantage of every minute of his retirement.

Gary is survived by his children, David (Tricia) Potter of Janesville, Wis., Doug (Mary) Potter of Lake Geneva, Wis., Todd (Jenny) Potter of Milwaukee, Wis., Barbara (Dave) Babcock of Plover, Wis. and Craig Johnson of Strum, Wis.

He is further survived by grandchildren, Sloan, Jade, Graham and Flynn Potter, Benjamin Peterson, Zachary Johnson, Janelle Murphy; and great-grandchildren, Preston and Kayson Johnston.

Gary L. Potter is also survived by sisters, Georgia (Dana) Clinton of Florida, Barbara Grimsby of Arkansas; and by brothers, Roger, Jr (Peggy) Potter of Illinois, Daniel (Betty) Potter of Illinois, Kenneth (Sharon) Potter of Illinois and Larry (Karen) of Illinois; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends in Wisconsin, Illinois and Florida.

Services

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 13 at Sturino Funeral Home. Following the visitation, he will be laid to rest at Graceland Cemetery.

The immediate Potter family would like to take this opportunity to thank the many friends and family members supporting him in the last trying few years — he appreciated the love he received from so many.
