Obituary for James R. Derderian

July 22, 1930 – March 3, 2024

Surrounded by his loving family, James R. Derderian, 93, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Racine, July 22, 1930, the son of the late Sam and Sophie (née DerHovsepian) Derderian.

He proudly served in the United States Air Force. On Sept. 21, 1974 he was united in marriage to Mary E. Griffin. Jim was employed for many years at Jacobsen Textron, retiring in 2001.

He was a longtime faithful member and usher at St. Joseph Catholic Church. His pastimes included game shows, word search puzzles, and traveling with his family to Door County and San Antonio.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Mary; children, Susan Derderian, David Derderian; grandson, Andrew Derderian; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike (Connie) Griffin, Susan (Terry) Toms; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lucy Derderian, John (Jonelle) Derderian, Michael (Joan) Derderian, and sister-in-law, Linda Teschler.

Services

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on March 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St., with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family for visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Ascension and Compassus Hospices for their loving and compassionate care.
