RACINE — One of two people charged with opening fire on a person at Marathon gas station, 3024 Rapids Drive, was handed his fate by the jury on Friday.
David Luckett Jr., 20, was convicted of first-degree intentional homicide in the shooting death of Deveon Robbins, 20, on May 15, 2021.
The shooting by two young men was captured by the station’s surveillance cameras. One of the shooters was in the light and investigators immediately identified Obie Glover, 19, as one of the shooters. However, the other shooter was wearing a COVID-19 mask and was in the shadows.
Jury determines evidence sufficient
However, the jury determined there was sufficient evidence to conclude the shooter was Luckett. The defendant went shopping at Walmart earlier in the day and was recorded by the store’s surveillance cameras wearing the same clothes as he was wearing at Marathon.
Investigators also had the recorded statement of someone in the car with Luckett and Glover the night of the shooting.
A sentencing hearing was scheduled for June 21.
Glover was sentenced in February to 30 years in prison on the charge of first-degree reckless homicide with use of a dangerous weapon, as party to a crime, in the shooting death of Deveon Robbins.
