Racine County Eye

RACINE, WI Racine County Eye is set to host its highly anticipated “Raise a Glass for Democracy” Wine-tasting Fundraiser on Tuesday, July 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Uncorkt, 240 Main St. This special event aims to raise $10,000 to support comprehensive election literacy stories that will inform and empower the local community.

In an era where informed voting is more critical than ever, Racine County Eye’s fundraiser will help provide essential election-related content, including candidate profiles, voting guides, stories about voter eligibility, poll workers, voter ID requirements, and voter registration.

Why is this important? Newsroom staffing has declined by 80 percent since 2008. Moreover, funding local journalism directly impacts a community’s health and well-being. According to the Pew Research Center, independent local journalism is also one media sector that is growing newsrooms, including Racine County Eye.

So… let’s celebrate that, but also know that Racine County Eye needs to be consistently funded by the community.

A night of fine wine and purpose

Attendees of the “Raise a Glass for Democracy” event can look forward to an evening of exquisite wines, engaging activities, appetizers, and live entertainment. Georgia Ray, a local favorite, will provide the evening’s musical backdrop, adding a touch of elegance to the festivities.

Silent Auction, wine and beer pull

The event will feature a silent auction with 20 exclusive items for bid. There is something for everyone, from luxury gift baskets to unique local experiences. In addition, a wine pull will offer attendees the chance to win exciting wine and beer. Early bird ticket buyers will receive bonus raffle entries and a special custom wine stopper as a token of appreciation.

Early bird incentives

To encourage early ticket purchases, Racine County Eye offers a discounted ticket price of $50 for those who purchase by June 15. Regular ticket prices are set at $60 per person, with a special rate of $450 for a table of eight, making it an excellent opportunity for friends and colleagues to enjoy the event together.

Furthermore, early bird ticket holders will be entered into a drawing for three months of nonprofit advertising for their favorite nonprofit on Racine County Eye, providing an added incentive to secure tickets early.
