MOUNT PLEASANT — A 25-year-old Racine woman with four pending cases in Racine County Circuit Court now faces 15 more criminal charges after her arrest on June 5.

Racine woman faces multiple charges and penalties

The Racine County District Attorney’s Office charged Jamilynn Devoe with three felony counts of bail jumping, nine misdemeanor counts of bail jumping, two misdemeanor counts of theft, and one misdemeanor count of resisting an officer, all as a repeat offender.

The three felonies each carry a possible prison term of six years and a $10,000 fine, while the remaining 12 misdemeanors each carry a nine-month term in the Racine County Jail and a $10,000 fine. Devoe is free from custody on a $5,000 signature bond and is due back in Racine County Circuit Court on August 5 for a 9 a.m. status conference.

Incident details

According to the criminal complaint, a Mount Pleasant Police officer responded to the Delta Hotel on June 5 at 8:20 a.m. An Avis/Budget Rental Car employee reported that their desk had been rummaged through, with papers on the floor, printers unplugged, and several items missing. The total value of the missing items—two bottles of cologne, hand sanitizer, flashlights, and a screwdriver—was $30.

Video evidence and hotel theft

Surveillance video showed a White female with a shaved head, a black shirt, and camouflage winter boots walking toward the desk at 1:45 a.m. Hotel employees also reported seeing the same woman, later identified as Devoe, taking items from the hotel shop without paying.

Arrest and resistance

Hotel staff called the police when they believed Devoe was in an out-of-service room. When police arrived, they found Devoe asleep on the couch. Upon attempting to arrest her, Devoe resisted.

A male companion claimed they were given the room key by a friend, but hotel staff confirmed the room was not in service. While waiting for a female officer, Devoe threw a “Hot Pocket” from her jacket and said, “Here’s their ‘Hot Pocket’ back.”

Additional findings and charges

Police did not find the items from the Avis/Budget desk but found evidence of other stolen items in the room. The total value of these items was $48.

Criminal court records show Devoe currently faces 24 criminal charges across four pending cases in Racine County, including a felony count of battery or threat to a judge, prosecutor, or law enforcement officer. Each pending case included bond orders not to commit further crimes, leading to additional bail-jumping charges in this recent incident.
