KENOSHA — Children of all ages (K-12) interested in basketball, soccer and volleyball have the opportunity this summer to join UW-Parkside’s youth camps and be instructed by the college’s own coaches and athletes.

Parkside’s Athletics Department announced in a June 19 press release what these camps have in store for their participants.

Nike Soccer Camp at UW-Parkside

  • Ages: 6 – 15 years
  • Dates: Aug. 5 – 9

The Nike Soccer Camp is a coed experience for campers who want to master the fundamentals of soccer. There are two skill levels: Player Development (ages 11 and under) and High Performance (ages 12 and up).

“This program is a great opportunity for players to learn through a variety of drills, games, and competitive play,” the press release reads.

The Nike Soccer Camp registration is first-come-first-served. Full-day and half-day camps will operate during the week, each at their own price point. The full-day fee is $365, and the half-day fee is $255, according to the camp’s webpage. However, prices are subject to change based on availability.

Men’s Basketball Skills Camp

  • Ages: Kindergarten – 7th grade
  • Dates: Aug. 5 – 8

The men’s basketball team at Parkside will be hosting a skills camp for boys looking to improve at basketball and engage in friendly competition. The camp is run by professional, certified teachers, according to the camp’s webpage.

“Kids will get to compete for awards every day and will also receive a free T-shirt,” the press release reads.

The registration fee for this camp is $85.

Women’s Basketball camps: Elites and Kids

  • Ages: Grades 9 – 12 (Elite Camps I and II); Grades 1 – 8 (Kids Camp)
  • Dates: June 23 (Elite Camp I); June 24 – 27 (Kids Camp); Aug. 18 (Elite Camp II)

Women’s basketball has three separate opportunities for girls wanting to hone their basketball skills this summer.

The Elite Camps, designed for high schoolers, conclude their day with a live panel and campus tour, according to their event page.

The Kids Camp is more game-focused, providing children with playtime rather than skill mastery.

The registration fee for the Elite Camps is $60, and the Kids Camp fee is $125.

Volleyball: Skill-focused clinics and more

  • Ages: Grades 5 – 12 (Serving & Passing; Blocking & Attacking; Setting); 6 – 11 years (Little Rangers)
  • Dates: July 22 (Serving & Passing); July 23 (Blocking & Attacking); July 24 (Setting); Aug. 31 (Little Rangers)

Parkside’s volleyball team is offering four separate clinics to cover different aspects of gameplay as well as cater to different age groups.

The point of the clinics is to develop crucial skills for volleyball players by utilizing repetition and drills, according to the event’s webpage.

Serving and Passing Clinic

This two-part camp is only available to girls. The serving portion is from 5 to 5:45 p.m., and the passing portion is from 6 to 8 p.m. Campers can register for one or both of these portions, with the serving portion fee at $30, the passing portion fee at $80, and the total package fee at $100.

Blocking and Attacking Clinic

This two-part camp is also only available to girls. The blocking portion is from 5 to 5:45 p.m., and the attacking portion is from 6 to 8 p.m. Campers can register for one or both of these portions, with the blocking portion fee at $30, the attacking portion fee at $80, and the total package fee at $100.

Setting Clinic

This coed clinic will focus on improving campers’ “footwork, touch, power, location, tipping, and strategy through many technical drills,” according to the event’s webpage. Registration for this clinic is $100.

Little Rangers Clinic

The Little Rangers Clinic is designed to introduce children to the fundamentals of volleyball.

“This camp is designed for beginner to intermediate level individuals who want to learn more about the game of volleyball in a fun, engaging environment,” the press release reads. “Age is just a suggestion, but campers younger than 6 are more than welcome to attend camp.”

Immediately following the Little Rangers Clinic, campers are encouraged to watch Parkside’s 2024 volleyball team at their Green & Black Scrimmage.

Up to three children per family can be registered for this clinic. Single child registration is $50, two-child registration is $90 and three-child registration is $120.
