The results of the April 15 Sturtevant election recount will stand, and incumbent John Johnson will serve for another two years.
By the time the polls closed on April 7, first time trustee candidate Michelle Duchow was in the lead, 367 to Johnson’s 366 votes. Two absentee ballots were received the next day and counted during the village Board of Canvass April 10, putting Johnson in the lead, 368 to 367.
Duchow requested a recount, and it was conducted April 15 at the Racine County Clerk’s office.
At the end of the recount, each candidate gained a vote, but Johnson remained on top. Duchow had until 5 p.m. Wednesday to file a challenge in circuit court, but the deadline came and went without any notice, Sturtevant Village Administrator/Clerk Mary Cole confirmed.
She will administer the oath of office to trustees Chris Larsen, Chris Wright, and Johnson sometime prior to the continual committee Tuesday.
