Former Green Bay Packer Darryl Ingram plans to belly up to a plate full of sauerkraut in the kraut eating contest at Kraut Fest, which will be held June 16 through June 19.

Originally from Texas, Ingram has called Racine home for the past 10 years. He owns a company called Videoscore, a company that helps high school athletes navigate the college recruiting process.

“Racine has been my home for almost 10 years now,” Ingram said. “It is also the home of my company, Videoscore, and the place where my young son will always cherish as his hometown. I am honored to participate in local festivities like the Racine County Kraut Music Fest.”

The festival started 52 years ago, ended 12 years ago because of lack of funding, and returned to Franksville last year.

Melanie Rasmussen, coordinator for the Kraut eating contest, is excited about Ingram’s involvement.

“We love it when current and former professional athletes, like Darryl Ingram, give back to their communities by participating in events like Racine County’s Kraut Music Fest.” she said.

The celebrity kraut eating contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. on June 18  and the  world kraut eating championship will be held at 2:30 p.m. June 19 at the Caledonia and Mount Pleasant Memorial Park, 9614 Northwestern Ave.
