Union Grove, WI — A Union Grove woman is in custody after the principal at her children’s elementary school called police Oct. 30 when she appeared to show up intoxicated for parent-teacher conferences.

According to the Racine County District Attorney’s criminal complaint, it was the second time in two weeks the principal at Union Grove Elementary School (UGES), 1745 Milldrum St., called law enforcement to report Brittney R. Raboine was intoxicated on the premises.

Raboine faces multiple charges from the Oct. 30 incident, including one felony charge of attempting to flee or elude an officer. If convicted of the felony charge, Raboine faces up to 3-and-a-half years in prison and fines up to $10,000.

According to the complaint, an administrative assistant at the school saw Raboine “walking goofy” when she entered the building for parent-teacher conferences, and a teacher smelled the alcohol when Raboine spoke.

When Union Grove Elementary School principal Thomas Johnson informed Raboine he was calling 911, she reportedly ran from the building, entered her vehicle and drove out of the school parking lot.

After receiving a description of the vehicle, Racine County Sheriff’s deputies located it being driven at the intersection of Main St. and 15th Ave.

The deputies activated their emergency lights and siren but Raboine continued driving, just under a mile to her residence, 714 9th Ave., swerving around other vehicles that had pulled over in front of her along the way.

According to the criminal complaint, Raboine then ran to the back of the residence and attempted to unlock the back door as deputies ordered her to stop. She continued to unlock the door and attempted to slam it on Sheriff’s deputies when she was ultimately apprehended and taken into custody.

Raboine has a preliminary hearing for the Oct. 30 incident in front of Judicial Court Commissioner Alice Rudebusch scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Nov. 6 in the lower level hearing room of the Racine County Law Enforcement Center.

According to the D.A.’s report, Raboine was also charged with OWI on Oct. 16 when she was seen stumbling into Union Grove Elementary School and heard slurring her speech, prompting Principal Johnson to call law enforcement on that date as well.

Raboine had been called to UGES on Oct. 16 after she failed to pick up her children from school.
