CALEDONIA — A traffic stop in the village of Caledonia earlier this month eventually led to four criminal charges against a 21-year-old Cudahy man – including one charge for felony second-degree sexual assault of a child younger than 16.

Criminal court records show that Kaleb Paradise remains in custody in the Racine County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond.

Along with the felony sexual assault charge, Paradise faces a felony count of driving or operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent, which carries a maximum prison term of three years, six months and a $10,000 fine.

Paradise is also charged with two misdemeanor counts of contributing to the delinquency of a child and a misdemeanor count of possession of THC.

The criminal complaint: Sexual assault of a child charges filed after traffic stop

An officer with the Caledonia Police Department stopped Paradise’s vehicle on Six Mile Road on May 6 at 8:50 p.m.

Police identified Paradise and a 14-year-old girl, who the defendant stated was his sister. That girl later was confirmed through dispatch to be a missing juvenile.

During a search of the trunk, police found a backpack and a bag of clothes, along with a THC vape pen that later tested positive for THC.

The vehicle later was confirmed to have been stolen from Paradise’s grandmother in Greenfield, who stated the defendant did not have consent to possess or drive the vehicle.

Police also suspected that Paradise and the female were in some sort of sexual relationship, which they were able to confirm through a contact with the Cudahy Police Department.

According to information detailed in the complaint, police had been called to a Cudahy residence in April after an anonymous report of screaming and yelling from within the residence.

Police spoke with Paradise, who stated there were two 14-year-old girls at the residence, the female passenger from the May 6 traffic stop and a second girl.

More underage partners disclosed

Paradise alleged the two girls had been “beating” on him, but that he didn’t touch them. He eventually identified both girls and later stated, regarding the three of them, “This has been going on for months now, the three of us associating with each other.”

After Paradise’s grandmother stated to him, “Go ahead, Kaleb, tell them,” and he replied the three had been engaging in consensual sexual intercourse. He claimed the girls initiated it, and that they had sex at his aunt’s house on Erie Street in Racine.

One of the girls told an investigator she became involved with the defendant in January, and the two had sexual relations at his aunt’s house. On one instance, the two girls, the defendant and his 21-year-old girlfriend were hanging out, smoking marijuana and drinking, when they all engaged in sexual activity, the girl stated.

The girl stated she had sexual intercourse and sexual contact with the defendant in Racine, Greenfield and Cudahy around 25-30 times. She also detailed how he provided her with LSD and cocaine. Police also learned that Paradise had filmed a number of the sexual acts and found videos on his cell phone.

Paradise admitted he had sex with the girl on multiple occasions since the beginning of March, and he also stated he knew both girls were 14 years old at the time.

He further admitted he bought alcohol so they could all get drunk together. Paradise also provided phone conversations and photographs that were sexual in nature, the complaint states.

Defendant’s girlfriend corroborates

Paradise’s girlfriend also spoke to law enforcement and stated he had been “having sex with four different girls” that were all between the ages of 14 and 15, while he stayed at his aunt’s house in Racine.

The girlfriend was able to identify all four girls by their first names. She stated one of the girls reached out via Snapchat and told her Paradise was sleeping with multiple underage girls. Investigation into those additional victims is continuing.

Paradise is due back in Racine County Circuit Court on June 5, for an 8:30 a.m. preliminary hearing.
