North Beach

Racine’s North Beach has again been designated as a Blue Wave beach by the Clean Beaches Coalition. The Blue Wave program — the first national environmental certification for beaches — is designed to help maintain robust, healthy and vibrant beaches.

North Beach was the first beach in Wisconsin to achieve the Blue Wave designation. It has been continuously certified since 2004.

Following the successful completion of a restoration project, North Beach has received numerous accolades. In 2012, USA TODAY named North Beach to its list of “51 Great American Beaches.” The beach was also named a “Top 10 Family Friendly Beach” by Parents magazine in 2011 and was one of Midwest Living magazine’s “Top City Beaches” in 2010.

Major upcoming events at North Beach Park include the Ironman 70.3 Racine Triathlon (Sunday, July 20), Bikes, Boards and Beach Series (Friday-Saturday, Aug. 1-2), the Xtreme Obstacle Challenge (Saturday, Sept. 6) and The Biggest Loser RunWalk (Sunday, Sept. 21).

North Beach is operated by the City of Racine Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services. Located just north of Downtown Racine at Michigan Boulevard and Kewaunee Street, the beach is open daily. Lifeguards are on duty through Labor Day weekend. Free parking and admission.
