The Jaramillo brothers — Lee, Jason and Frank Jr. — will kick off a three-day baseball fundamentals camp in August, an extension of their love for baseball since all three have played professional baseball.
Over the years, the brothers have played on the Brewers, Mets, Mariners, Astros, A’s, Phillies, Rangers and Pirates organizations. This isn’t the only endeavor the brothers, who grew up in Caledonia, have done together. They designed the Forceout Glove last year.
The three brothers realized that Racine is a decent sized city that has a vibrant baseball community, but is underserved in the number of baseball camps it has.
“A number of professional baseball players have also come from this area — even aside from my family,” Lee said. “So we thought we would start a camp for the kids in this area. We want to keep baseball alive and growing.”
The camp will be run by all three brothers, former college coaches and former professional baseball players, Lee said.
“It helps to have that level of integrity,” Lee said. “We’ll have former professional catchers, infielders and pitchers there to help the kids.”
The three-day long camp will be run like a spring training camp, which will include warm-up exercise and work on fundamentals, but it will also include games too.
“It’s not a rigorous as a spring training camp, we’ll definitely keep these kids constantly moving,” Lee said. “But we’ll also keep it fun.”
The camp, which is for children between the ages of 8 to 12-years old, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 6, 7, and 8 at Haban Park, 1500 Borgardt Rd., in Sturtevant. The cost is $85.
