MOUNT PLEASANT, WI – Some 300 people here may lose their jobs in the next three years as Sealed Air consolidates its operations into one location in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Currently headquartered in New Jersey but with offices in several other states, the company announced Wednesday it would be moving to North Carolina and taking some 350 jobs from Sturtevant over the next three years, according to a story at jsonline.com.

Most or all of those employees will have the opportunity to relocate, company spokesman Ken Aurichio told The Journal Times.

“We anticipate all or most of those will be relocating to the new facility along with the other locations,” he is quoted as saying.

Sturtevant Village Administrator/Clerk Mary Cole confirmed with Racine County Eye that village officials were notified.

I received a message a short time ago that Sealed Air will be eliminating and/or moving 350 positions over the next two years,” she said via email.

Sealed Air actually has two locations in eastern Racine County; one on 16th Street in Mount Pleasant and another location in the Renaissance Business Park in Sturtevant. Sealed Air bought Diversey, Inc. in 2011.

The company’s building on 16th Street in Mount Pleasant will either be sold or leased, the story in the Journal Times continues.

Sealed Air is set to receive $41 million from North Carolina if they meet promised job creation and investment goals. Another $5 million is also on the table from a mix of state and local incentives.
