The 1200 block of Washington Avenue was closed for several hours Thursday afternoon after an 8-year-old boy was hit by a car.
A press release from Racine police Sgt. Jessie Metoyer indicates the child was attempting to cross Washington Avenue when he was struck by an eastbound SUV. The impact threw the boy into the westbound lanes.
Racine police issued a traffic alert around 5 p.m. about the road being closed.
