This weekend’s fun is found indoors and outdoors. It includes chili tasting, home remodeling, a benefit dance and ice fishing. Come along with Real Racine.

Chili for fun and fame. Hot ‘n spicy or on the mild side — the area’s best chili makers will show off their stuff at the Winter Carnival and Chili Cook-Off from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Roma Lodge, 7130 Spring St., Mount Pleasant. The event includes a chance to sample chili made by firefighters, police officer, emergency medical pros and the general public. There is also music by Bella Cain from 4 to 6 p.m., a DJ spinning the hits from 6 to 9 p.m. and raffles. The cook-off winners, as determined by popular vote, will be announced by 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10. The cook-off benefits the Charitable Foundation Alliance for Fire Safety (Wisconsin Burn Camp.)

Start that project. This weekend is a great time to get started on that home improvement project. The pros will be on hand with lots of ideas at the 2015 Building and Remodeling Show at Fountain Banquet Hall, 8505 Durand Ave., Sturtevant. The show, sponsored by the Racine-Kenosha Builders Association, includes dozens of builders, remodelers and related products. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5. Fancy dancing. George Washington would be proud! The George Washington Liberty Ball on Saturday night is a fun way to honor the first president and raise funds for the Racine Fourth Fest parade and fireworks. Snacks and silent auction start at 6 pm. at Fountain Banquet Hall, 8505 Durand Ave. The dance, with music by Final Approach, is at 7 p.m. Costume dress or semi-formal wear is encouraged. Admission at the door is $10 per person or $15 per couple.

A touch of Vegas. Festival Hall, 5 Fifth St., gets flashy for Vegas Night from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday. This annual fun and fund-raiser from the Racine Founder’s Rotary Club benefits Camp Anokijig and Midwest Therapeutic equestrian program. Admission is $10 and gets you $100 in fun play for games, instant winner prize drawing entry and a grand prize drawing entry for a trip to Las Vegas and $500 in cash. On ice. Wind Lake is the place for ice fishing this Saturday. The St. Clare Ice Fishing Jamboree has cash prizes plus meat, basket and special raffles. The fishing contest runs from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sign up by 4 p.m. at St. Clare Church, 7616 Fritz Road; Sportsman’s Landing, 25313 W. Loomis Road; Kelly’s Bleachers II, 7805 W. Loomis Road; or The Tavern, 8601 E. Wind Lake Road, all in Wind Lake.

Coinage. More than 50 dealers from Wisconsin and Illinois are expected for the Racine Numismatic Society’s Coin Show. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Roma Lodge, 7130 Spring St., Mount Pleasant. Free admission.
