J.I. Case High School graduate and Army Private Zach Brenner took to the mound Wednesday in Arizona to pitch against the Milwaukee Brewers in a spring training game.

Brenner is in his sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The UWM Panthers traveled to Arizona to play the Brewers in an exhibition game at Maryvale Baseball Park. It was the first time the Brewers played a college team since 1983, a story at jsonline.com reads.

Brewers took the Panthers in an 8-0 win after Journal Sentinel sports writer Tom Haudricourt said it took the professionals a while to get going. After a tie at zero for four innings, leftfielder Khris Davis hit a two-run single to kick off the scoring.

The Racine Army Recruiting office posted on Facebook photos of Brenner on the mound.

“Congratulations to PVT Zach Brenner for being afforded the opportunity to pitch against the Milwaukee Brewers for their first spring training game at Maryvale Baseball Park in Arizona!!!” the post reads.
