No one was injured in a tactical situation after officers with the Racine Police Department surrounded a home during a stand off that happened at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22 at Victory Avenue and Virginia Street, according to a report by CBS 58.
The 54-year-old man was drinking and threatening to kill himself. Police were told the man had several weapons in the home and a family member had taken them away from him earlier that day, according to a press release by the Racine Police Department.
The stand-off lasted five hours as officers were trying to check the welfare of a man inside the home. He refused to come outside, but at about 2:30 a.m. the man surrendered.
The man was taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital to be evaluated.
